Your curling update on BORDER curling matters
Edition No 8

Primetime to Curl.
Unless you have just returned from a year on Mars you would all know that the Border Curlers were competing in the BBC Primetime Programme for a whopping £370,000.00 grant.   Well we did not win our section and were to say the least very disappointed after a year of hard graft and planning.
The "Primetime to Curl committee" extend sincere thanks to all who voted for the project last week.
BUT!
This is not the end to our efforts, but in fact a new beginning.   The Primetime bid has already been approved by the Big Lottery, and it is now being presented to the "Big Lottery" direct to be channeled into other avenues of funding.   So we still have hope!

Ladies Challenge
Please visit the rink during the 21st - 23rd October to see some of Scotland's finest Lady Curlers on the ice at Kelso.

Sunday Curling
The entries are open for the Mixed Pairs on Sunday 5th October.   This is a game played the same as any other game, in the respect that you deliver a stone from the hack, but that's about it.   The order of play and the scoring is a little different and you need to think and remember who plays where and when.   However it is great fun and very well worth entering, just ask anyone who played last year.

SALSC Area Playdowns
The Scottish Association of Local Sports Councils will hold their southern qualifiers at Kelso on 20th December 2008.   Click here for full details.

Men's Canadian Tour
A 4 team squad will visit the Borders on 24th - 26th January and play two games on the Saturday, there will be more details in the next E-NEWS regarding costs.   Any curler wishing to play in this match should contact the province secretary.
